  1. Ephesus was a thriving city in Rome, diverse and full of life. Paul came and planted a church in Ephesus. There are two letters to the Ephesian church recorded in the bible. One is the book of Ephesians, the other is in the book of Revelations.

In the first letter Paul writes:

"For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all God’s people, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers."

But the fire that fueled this church didn't last. In Revelations the angel says to John concerning the church in Ephesus:

"Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. "

The spiritual city of Ephesus came to ruin far before the physical city did.  I feel like I too, need a constant reminder of the love I once felt for a God so powerful, he could take care of any problem I brought to him.

I also just like how the name "New Ephesus" sounds.
